Nifty October futures trade at premium

The Nifty October 2019 futures were at 11,440.90, a premium 12.6 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 11,428.30 in the cash market.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 9.30 lakh crore compared with Rs 8.52 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 87.15 points or 0.77% to settle at 11,428.30. The index closed above its 100-day simple moving average placed at 11,408.22.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, fell 3.67% at 16.79.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 31 October 2019 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 24.14 lakh contracts at the 12,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 30.99 lakh contracts was seen at 11,000 strike price. Options data suggested a trading range between 11,000 and 12,000 levels for the Nifty in October series.

Hindustan Unilever (HUL), State Bank of India and Infosys were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. HUL October 2019 futures were at 2054.15, compared with spot closing price of 2060.05. SBI October 2019 futures were at 259.4 compared with spot closing price of 258.5. Infosys October 2019 futures were at 763.1, compared with spot closing price of 769.

The October 2019 F&O contracts expire on 31 October 2019.
